A probabilistic method for structural integrity assurance based on damage detection structural health monitoring data

چکیده

The value of using permanently installed monitoring systems for managing the life an engineering asset is determined by confidence in its damage detection capabilities. A framework proposed that integrates data from with probabilistic structural integrity assessments. Probability (POD) curves are used combination particle filtering methods to recursively update a distribution postulated defect size given series negative results (i.e. no defects detected). continuously filter out possible cases severe damage, which turn updates estimated probability failure. An implementation method takes into account effect systematic uncertainty capabilities system also proposed, addressing problem whether measurements simply consequence occurring outside sensors field view. simulated example fatigue crack growth demonstrate framework. low susceptibility effects may be maintain fitness-for-service while relying on fewer inspections. provides achieve continuous assessments improved management.

Aggressive Data Reduction for Damage Detection in Structural Health Monitoring

While wireless sensors are increasingly adopted in various applications, the need of developing data reduction methods to alleviate data transmission rate issue between the sensors and the data interpretation unit becomes more urgent. This article presents a new data reduction method for sensors used in structural health monitoring application. Our goal is to achieve an effective data reduction...

A novel method for detecting structural damage based on data-driven and similarity-based techniques under environmental and operational changes

The applications of time series modeling and statistical similarity methods to structural health monitoring (SHM) provide promising and capable approaches to structural damage detection. The main aim of this article is to propose an efficient univariate similarity method named as Kullback similarity (KS) for identifying the location of damage and estimating the level of damage severity. An impr...

Damage Detection with Streamlined Structural Health Monitoring Data

The huge amounts of sensor data generated by large scale sensor networks in on-line structural health monitoring (SHM) systems often overwhelms the systems' capacity for data transmission and analysis. This paper presents a new concept for an integrated SHM system in which a streamlined data flow is used as a unifying thread to integrate the individual components of on-line SHM systems. Such an...

A case study for application of fuzzy inference and data mining in structural health monitoring

In this study, a system for monitoring the structural health of bridge deck and predicting various possible damages to this section was designed based on measuring the temperature and humidity with the use of wireless sensor networks, and then it was implemented and investigated. A scaled model of a conventional medium sized bridge (length of 50 meters, height of 10 meters, and with 2 piers) wa...
